Competition cutting diet

When will we start the cutting phase?

I always hear the same question from my trainees, almost the same frequency someone tells you “good morning”.

When will we start the cutting phase?
I always answer the same: “When time comes”.
Cutting for a show isn’t a regular time period – you can't compare one to another.
The start point is different, the pace is different and so many other variants are differ from each other.

Then why do we still hear and read about those 6 or 8 or 12 weeks “cutting plans”?
Is is enough? Well, it’s definitely a lot of time (in bodybuilding terms) to get into a shredded, lean cut body condition.
With that being said, it is too general and decisive for too many people who are not using the same supplements, doesn’t have the same genetics, don’t train as much and more.

All-in-all it is just a matter of approach, a perspective, someone’s point of view.
It's not a rule! And even if it was – don’t forget this sport is built on breaking rules.

So what should you do?
First diet
If this is your first time cutting for fitness competition – DON’T TAKE CHANCES.
You’d better be ready earlier than not being ready at all.

Firstly, it’s always recommended to have a professional person working with you, if you don’t have one (if you read it you probably don’t have) then be realistic about the way you look.

Try to evaluate the time it takes to your body to lose body fat, better if you are based on your past statistics and add some more time.

You must understand that getting to real low body fat isn’t as simple as losing you first 5 kilos or whatever you have achieved when you just started dieting.

The most important advantage is that you can try out something new because you already know how your body reacts to diet and you have the time to, maybe, do something better.

Once again, it is always recommended to keep your diet as long as possible so you’d have more refeed days, more stabilized hormone levels and even mode levels. This will help you to keep training hard while losing fat percentage gradually.

Another advantage of having experience is that you may even ignore the “peak week”.
Most od us believe that peak week is necessary for better results.
Truth is that most bodybuilders and even Pros sometimes miss the peak day by a notch and look tremendously good the day after the show or worse – the meal after the show.

Good athletes don’t take risks, id you are prepared a week before the show and you look crazy, vascular and full, just like you suppose to be on stage – change nothing! Absolutely nothing!

In some cases you may even drink the same all the way to the show including the show day.
Remember, don’t do thins just because someone else is doing them.
Do what it takes to look the best, and if you are ready to bang, don’t reload – shoot!
